Bangladesh's all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan stated on Thursday that the squad will perform better against India in the Kanpur Test if they strengthen their batting in the first innings.

In the first Test match in Chennai, India defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs, with a significant portion of the defeat stemming from the visitors' 149 all out in the first innings after India's 376.

"I think we played well in patches in Chennai, but it's not ideal for us to finish the match in three and a half days," Shakib said to the media in Kanpur on Thursday. To read more news about Cricket Bet Pro, login.

"Only in terms of batting, there was progress from the opening to the second innings. We were bowled out for 150 in the first innings, but we scored about 250 in the second. If we score 350 or more in the upcoming test match, it will be a significant improvement. A 350–400 score in the opening inning will instill great confidence in our team.

Shakib stated that they won their first-ever Test series against Pakistan because of the disparity in experience between the two teams, but he pointed out that India is an exception.

"Pakistan is a young and inexperienced team, in my opinion. We have more experience, and in Test cricket, that's a huge thing if you compare the matches they've played to our team," Shakib remarked.

"Regarding India, they are now the best squad and are most likely unbeatable at home. India is challenging for any country, and ours is no exception. To demonstrate the fight we believe we can muster and need to play well," he continued.

"I believe that right now, the hardest tour is to India. While other teams might drop a single or two games, India is hardly ever the loser. Tests," he said.

In addition, Shakib stated that they are relaxed about the pitches because, while playing against a team like India, performance and skill would matter more than field conditions.

"Against teams like England, Australia, and India, pitches don't matter. They have fast bowlers, spinners, and excellent batting at their disposal to assault us. The pitch won't matter, in my opinion. All we need to do is outperform what we did in Chennai," Shakib said.
